2 Star Step Up To Quality Award Winner

Small Scholars University Inc. opened in January 2001 in Downtown Lorain, and then moved to the 21st St. location later that year. Main Campus Lorain has expanded several times to meet the needs of the ever changing population of the community it serves. New preschool and school age classrooms have been added, as well as current classroom restructuring and remodeling. In 2006 our program expanded to a new facility opening in South Amherst to provide childcare, preschool, before and after school care and summer camps to children in the South Amherst, Amherst, and Firelands school districts. Main Campus Lorain was proud to work with and offer the Ohio ELI program for 3 years, and currently works with the latest early childhood program rating scale of Step Up To Quality. In 2009 the main campus in Lorain became a 2 star rated facility by increasing the staff’s education requirements, and reducing classroom child to teacher ratios. We are proud to be one of only 7 facilities to achieve a 2 star rating in the entire Lorain County. Small Scholars Main Campus Lorain employees several bachelor degreed staff with teaching degrees as well as experienced and educated childcare providers to ensure the highest quality of care in the community.
